Spring Thaw: RAINDROP earrings with reclaimed Opals in Sterling Silver
Pastel colours always seem right as the snow melts. The days are getting lighter and longer. Things haven't quite de-frosted, but this time of year always brings about a hopefulness and promise of the return of bounty and colour. Here is a small collection of pieces I've created as I dream about the ground waking up after winter.
These earrings are a cross between a stud and a dangle. The posts hang long and elegantly behind your lobe, while the open drop sits flush like a stud. iridescent opals shine and shimmer and shine with some magic colour play.
Drop shape is 3/4" tall. Opals measure 6 x 4 mm and 8 x 6 mm. Gems have been reclaimed from jewellery that was being melted down for the metal.
